Outreach is a huge part of what I do at SFASU. Whenever possible we travel cuttings from the TYA productions to local libraries. Each Spring I organize a performance at the Blueberry Festival downtown, and design, cast, and schedule characters to walk the streets greeting children and passing out discount tickets to our summer productions. I have also worked with Historic Nacogoches to create Storybook Saturdays. I created and cast storybook characters who read to the children and then posed for picures at local historic homes. In the fall I organize and participate in face painting at the Halloween party at the Boys and Girls Club of East Texas and at the Day of the Dead Festival sponsored by the School of Art and City of Nacogdoches.
